No 1 fan here 🤣 I think I see this film slightly differently from you guys. I’ve always felt it’s Marwoods take on events. That’s why he’s always drawing the short straw. He’s giving himself a way out so he can leave Withnail behind and not feel guilty. The reason it ends the way it does is because Marwood walks away. He can hear him reciting Shakespeare but doesn’t stop to look back. So for him it’s over. Thanks so much for doing this film, I really enjoyed listening to your take on things.

I definitely struggled with the British humour aspect and found it a slow burner, difficult to watch. No regrets watching it and happy to broaden my viewing, but not something I could watch again. Hadn’t seen it before, or heard of it and for me it was a high end of bad. Zoned out a few times watching it and missed a few things, so it certainly didn’t hold my attention. Your review did it justice and I can see the quotable lines that are offered. Just not my thing.
